I recently hit a tree in my 1996 jeep Cherokee xj and bent the frame in about 2 inches my dad thinks it totaled due plenty of reasons but I think it can still be fixed any advice on fixing something like this would be great.

    Hi (Barry?),

as you wrote in English and the text you used, I'm guessing you are an American.

From the two photos you posted it's difficult to see if there is any damage to the main Chassis rails.

My suggestion would be to first remove all the bits that are in the way, Grill, Lights, Front Bumper etc. then you can see if the main rails are damaged or not. The Top Panel is also removable, is just bolted in.

Also it makes it easier to take photos of the damaged area which you can then post here.

Once those items are removed it's easier to see if any engine / Auxillaries got damaged, Water Pump, Aircon Compressor etc.

Assuming there is no Major damage to the main rails you should be able to repair it fairly cheaply using used parts, if the rest of the Jeep is worth the time & Money you need to invest or buy a undamaged replacement and keep this one for spare parts.

Even if the main framerails are bent (not broken!) it's fairly easy to bend them back with a dozer. Some guys took a hi-lift to do.
